A BROAD OVERVIEW OF THE AGENCE’S WORK

The Management Board is involved in matters of strategy, finance and personnel management. It considers a wide range of issues, and supports the Agence de la biomédicine in taking decisions.
The role of the Management Board focuses on the global strategy of the Agence as well as approving its budget and measures relating to its management. It also votes approval of its annual report. This position enables it to maintain “a broad and comprehensive overview of the Agence’s affairs,” says Professor Sophie Caillat-Zucman, Chair of the Management Board.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN DECISIONS

A certain number of decisions within the areas of competence of the Agence are taken in close consultation with the Management Board. By way of example, the members of the Board have voted on resolutions relating to the functioning of the national organ allocation register, the funding of cord blood banks and measures intended to increase the number of organ donors.

RANGE OF COMPETENCES

The Management Board consists of thirty-three members, all appointed by ministerial decree for a three-year term of office. They include representatives of various ministries and public health administrations and other suitably qualified individuals. The Management Board meets several times each year. These meetings are an opportunity for productive discussions “thanks to the active participation of its members, the mix of expertise and the range of competences,” as Professor Sophie Caillat-Zucman underlines.
