Prenatal diagnosis

Mis à jour le 01.02.2013

The law regulates obstetric and foetal ultrasound along with other medical prenatal diagnosis practices (cytogenetic and biological analyses) in order to improve information and support for pregnant women.

Prenatal diagnosis activities may only be carried out in healthcare institutions, medical laboratories and organisation authorised by regional health authorities on the recommendation of the Agence de la biomédecine.

The creation of multidisciplinary centres for prenatal diagnosis, staffed by multidisciplinary teams to handle the most serious cases, is subject to an authorisation issued by the Agence de la biomedicine.
